The Spot & The Gap

Resolution isn't just about PPI. In laser engraving, the relationship between the Physical Spot Size and the Scan Density (LPCM) determines if you get a solid fill or a field of stripes.

Act I: The Bug

The "White Striping" Trap

Select Module
Wavelength 1064 nm
Lines Per CM (LPCM) 40
Scan Gap
0.200 mm
Fill Continuity
Gaps Visible
The Failure: When LPCM is too low, the distance between scan lines (Scan Gap) is larger than the 0.03mm laser spot. This leaves untouched "white space" between every pass, ruining the solid finish.
Act II: The Fix

Perfect Overlap (Overdraw)

Select Module
Wavelength 1064 nm
Increase Density 333 LPCM
Overdraw
0%
Thermal Fill
Solid
The Success: To achieve a Solid Fill, you must deliver enough density to ensure the lines overlap. This "Overdraw" eliminates the gap and ensures uniform thermal coverage.
