Safety & Ventilation

The xTool F2 is a Class 4 laser. This means even the reflection of the beam is enough to cause permanent blindness or start a fire.

Optical Density (OD) Simulator

TRANSMISSION
Optical Density (OD) OD 1

* F2 IR (1064nm) requires OD4+.
* Blue Diode (455nm) requires OD6+.

Air Quality

Fume Extraction Flow

🌀
CFM (Airflow) Low

* Particulates (Dust) settle quickly.
* VOCs (Gases) linger in the room.

⚠️ THE PVC DEADLINE

Never laser PVC (Vinyl) or Leather tanned with Chrome. Heating these materials releases Chlorine Gas, which combines with moisture in your lungs to form Hydrochloric Acid. It also corrodes your laser's optics and mirrors within hours.

Material Hazard Map

What's in the Fumes?

Material Type Hazard Requirement
Acrylic VOC Strong odor, inflammatory to lungs. Activated Carbon Filter
Wood / MDF Particulate Fine dust, carcinogens in resins. HEPA + Extraction
Stainless Steel Metal Fume Hexavalent Chromium (Toxic). Strong Extraction
PVC / Vinyl DEADLY Chlorine Gas + Corrosive Acid. DO NOT CUT
The "Specular" Reflection: A laser beam hitting a shiny surface like polished brass doesn't just "stop." It bounces with 90% of its power intact. Always ensure the IR shield is down on the F2 or you are wearing the correct goggles for the material.
